As a teenager I had a paper round and would conjure up magical ideas while delivering newspapers early in the morning. I saved the money earned to buy new magic books and props. I would also practise magic every night before doing my homework (don’t tell my mum!) Very soon I found that I was being invited to perform at children’s parties in my local area, and quickly discovered that I was earning more money from doing these shows at the weekend than for a full week of delivering newspapers, and it was much more fun! I also started Amateur Dramatics, acting in plays, and singing and dancing in musical theatre. I was often invited to perform at “Olde Time Music Halls” which helped to hone my stagecraft.

After leaving college I went to work at a holiday camp for a year. I learnt so many new and invaluable skills, like how to use a microphone and the best way to break the ice by creating a fun and lively atmosphere. I also learned how to adapt my performance style for every different type of audience. I was privileged to be able to watch and learn from professional entertainers every night of the week.
